Excellent post, lumenge. Andech1 is in our camp of thinking. I think you mixed him up with someone else here.

I do agree with you that everything that Suresh has been working on is designed to make a big splash. A long time ago, Suresh mentioned that you get only one chance to impress and do it right in this industry. Think about it. If he promoted GaAS and got commitments from a bunch of big name companies, would they have ever looked at POET again? Probably not. However, he did learn from his research that if and when anybody goes GaAS that the customers want complete monolithic conversion to justify moving to a completely brand new standard. Suresh also has said you can only make what the customers want, (not what you think they should have)- brackets paraphrased.

Now the Interposer is what current companies need and want. It is compatible with silicon-based technology and merges photonics in a more efficient, enhanced-performance, and enables lower manufacturing costs while being scalable at the same time. This will be our entrance with tier1 customers embracing POET according to my understanding.
