POET management are very aware of what the future value of this company is. Why would they ever contemplate a low ball offer? There is an end game for them to cash in their options at some point in the future when they actually retire. But between now and then they have a company with the potential to be a leader in the field of optical integration. All those great minds will no doubt generate new applications and continue to build out the technology. And maybe they will have another look at the GaAs platform without the past limitations.
