Based on the accumulation of info from what the company has provided and the fine detective work by many members of this forum with special thanks to ITTR.
As we will recall monk posted the finding of an observed citation by Huawei associated with a BB Photonics patent.
It was the only patent that was cited by the inventor who as ITTR quickly pointed out has a history in Ottawa and with POET.
So we come to this point in time where we can begin to see some sight lines to Huawei using POET’s platform in part or in whole for very high data transfer rates. Of course we can also look at Accelink’s patents and their approach to achieve PAM4...and how advantageous POETs optical interposer would be to allow light source connectivity for their configuration. But right now let’s look at how POET would supply these markets in particular Huawei under the current political climate.
Here is a question worth considering. Does POET need to supply China or can a business arrangement be established with the new owner of DL to utilize their established sales network? In other words sell the completed optical engine to the new owner of DL for distribution into China (and the US, Europe and so on...you get the picture)? And with that thought I offer the article below. One other note. The new owner appears motivated to expanding their interest not only in Singapore but to include Europe as per ITTR:
And the latest finding from ITTR points to manufacturing throughout Malaysia (it would also be worth looking at any such connections to Thailand as well).
It is interesting that Infineon who is noted in the article below along with TSMC owns fabs in Malaysia.
