There is no question that Suresh has been influenced by the research he has done throughout his career and that attempts to utilize parts of Geoff Taylor's work was a big part of that background. 

My take from talking with SV early on in the development of the dielectric interposer was that it  was an approach that surprised/intrigued and excited many people with some very eager to see it  developed and others who were content to make small incremental improvements to  the status quo or more correctly to what they were currently invested in.

 The number of combinations associated with the laminations of varying material compositions with thickness of layers ranging from 5nm to 25000nm. This is where much work was done to design waveguides that were applicable to a wide range of wavelength and purpose.

Time for me to  step away from the  keyboard unless we want to change subjects...lol
