Dear ChappyChap,
Your post had impact which was good. Like you I feel newcomers here can get treated poorly. I also reflected on your notion of ‘sunk cost fallacy’ but think you are wrong as explained below. I am just beginning to understand how Modern liberalism seems to be about telling others how to behave, which is actuall illiberal. It’s a strange time in history and We are all going to have to become more tolerant of others and less liberal. Harsh views are not helping.
What concerns me is that you express your whole POET experience as ‘toxic’. For you to think this yet still be here, and I am presuming that you remain invested, it opens the questions what causes your degree of desperation and dissonance. A clue why, perhaps, is that you raised the whole notion of ‘sunk cost fallacy’, toxicity and how cash can be made on hash. Your seem in a hurry.
I feel the need to cheer you up with my resolute optimism. As I, and I think others, on this toxic board feel too, that Poet Technologies Inc have placed themselves in a pretty strong position, worthy to continue to remain invested. Thus I don’t feel at all trapped particularly as we appear to be on course for increased revenue in 2020 as predicted and SP should logically follow. So no I don’t feel sunk.
When someone uses the cliché ‘these are the facts’ for emphasis they are usually expressing personal opinions. So for me it’s a fact too that considering the pit falls of venture capital investment, sound management, sufficient capital, a potentially disruptive product, a burgeoning market for it, and being on time all seem pretty favourable currently for PTI to do well, if I can just hold my nerve and patience.
By definition, very few of us can possibly understand the technical side of the cutting edge technology such as POET offers, but we can recognise potential. We accepted big risks being early investing in POET technology simply because of the potential we saw. Potential that has grown over time that has not diminished. This board warts and all has enabled us to get nearer to understanding PTI and happy with the long view idea of making a product rather than the short view of quick gain that selling the IP previously offered.
So I don’t share the negativity you feel and have no regrets being long here. I suspect you are more suited and happier with the short term gains which the marijuana market bubble offers as you suggest but I’m feeling perfectlyhappy rationally bettting on POET as a long, as that that will offer the benefits of buying in early, albeit that’s presuming one then took the opportunity of averaging down available.
I can accept that from some standpoints PTI could be seen as a disappointment but only if you’re in a rush being long seems wise. Try to cheer up, we’re all in it to win it
