Why is 400G delayed industry wide?
Because it is really hard to do. Suresh has been very clever in how he has done this. Really clever. I had a chance to pick his brain and there is no question in my mind that this platform holds the key to the lowest cost optical engine. None. I talked with him about what other companies are doing. Their strength and weakness and it is not even a contest. There is no way that Suresh could do this without very advanced knowledge of the semiconductor industry. I almost fell off my chair when I heard the kind of R&D budget that he was dealing with in his past life. He has learned a thing or two and that is for sure. They are doing things that have never been achieved before in industry and they are doing it on a shoestring budget.
What they put into 400G pays off in simplifying 100G.
I may have embarrassed myself when I voiced my opinion (more than once) that if a wider audience knew what this company has there is no way it is trading at the current valuation. I also voiced my opinion as usual that there needs to be more effort to educate the market…A good start is upgrading the website, video content etc….white paper.
Once the first POET 400G engine hits the market the flood gates are going to open wide. That will be a sweet moment in time.
