ITTR could it be that Jack the Bear is the one who proclaims:  "The Emperor has no clothes" and that you just want to see the clothes?  Just asking?  Maybe Jack has 20/20 vision, especially hindsight?

  I am not convinced that flogging, flagging and using the "racist" card are appropriate actions based on the lessons from history in dealing with PRC.  Putting blinders on in a mindfield can predispose to a very hazardous transit through the difficulties thereof, ITTR.  Could it be that a more realistic approach would be to just recognize that in the past these waters have been troubled for Western sojourners?  Of course, you have the right to deny the past.  That is your priviledge.  My opinion, not that it matters, is to not be overly optimistic nor overly pessimistic, just.... dare I say.... realistic.

  Then again there will always be a contingent that has a deep affinity for the David Farragut injunction:
