Hello everyone,  Christmas is past us, to me it is a magical time, hopefully the Christmas spirit will prevail at least through the New Year.  I haven’t  posted in quite a while, I had some health issues I had to deal with, since last Spring.

  I went in to get fitted for glasses (I noticed something wrong with my eyesight, a large distortion in one eye).  The doctor said I had a tear in my Retina and referred me to a retina Specialist.  Indeed, I required surgery.  The tear was in the Macula, the area for color and focus (about a ¼” Diameter patch of sensors directly behind the front lens).   It required 5 surgeries and hundreds of eye drops.  It totally disrupted the structure of my days and my routine as I had so many appointments and down time.   The surgeons were able to fix it and I am so grateful for their dedication and skills.  I must say I was truly terrified at the thought of eye surgery but it turned out well (thank goodness).

  As I mentioned to my friend Ajit Manocha, I found it not so much ironic but interesting, that I am invested in photonics.  The Human Eye is so interesting and truly a miracle, Gods work (I can find no other way to explain it).  Of course, the eye has sensors for incoming photons only.  I am working with the doctors on a chip implant so I can have an emitter for x-rays or heat vision. (just kidding on that : ).

  I have tried to keep up with our many awesome technical contributors and have returned each and every PM sent to me.  I am truly grateful to my many friends for their support and encouragement.  I have held on to my core position of about 200K shares and am happy I have.  I will add as I can.   I think POET has never looked so good with our wafer level, integrated components with our dielectric waveguides and interposer interface, truly genius.   I like the looks of Oracle as a possible partner or some sort of relationship.  If our names are connected, I believe the SP will skyrocket.  Any big name should do it.   

  John, I am sorry for your loss of your special dog, Cooper, and for the many others who have experienced the same.  They have a relatively short life span but fill our lives with unconditional love and faithfulness, so special and add such richness in a whole family’s life (what can I say, just so special).

   On a more local note (for me, N. Cal), I like the looks of my 49ers football team with a huge game coming up.  I think they took last place last year after the injury to our totally cool quarterback.  This year we are firing on all cylinders.  This Sunday (evening) will be a true showdown, I heard the Seahawks are practicing as if they are preparing for war.  They actually hired a running back from out of retirement, (nickname Beast Mode), Marshawn Lynch, mostly a legendary running back.  I think we will be able to impose our will on the Seattle Seahawks and will prevail.  In any case, regardless of your sports preferences, the atmosphere will be electric.  The Seattle Stadium is one of the loudest in any league.  The whole nation and lots of the World will be watching.  Lots of fun! (sorry, kind of excited)

   I hope I can be forgiven for some of the off topic material (in the spirit of the Holidays).  I hope I can contribute more in the future.  I should be able to attend the next SPIE Show, February, in SF, 2020.

  I didn’t see Denselight or POET listed as an exhibitor.  Should still be fun and interesting.
