First slides discuss history of transitions to various data rates in the data com industry, and some factors that shaped the transitions.
Included next are his predictions of future evolutions in the data com and telecom industries.
Slides 26 to 36 get pretty heavy on the theory - he lost me there.
From Slide 40 to 49, discussion of industry products developed to date in Si Photonics, and outlines various constraints/barriers to SiPh adoption.
From my limited understanding it seems that the Poet OI will help address many of them eg. Losses, signal to noise ratio, cost, high volume manufacturing, low yields etc.
A disruptive product that differentiates itself from the products developed to date - if we are delivering that, we should be off to the races.....soon.
