I agree whole-heartedly that it is important for POET to attend the OFC, notwithstanding that a bit of glitz has been removed by the CV.
Many here believe that POET will really impress fellow attendees at the conference with the OI. If this be actually the case, wouldn't we expect some really decent volume and positive share price movement from the interactions at the OFC? I certainly would. I simply cannot believe that attendees would not look up POET and its stock and see the $100 million market cap and think, "heck, I'm getting myself a few shares." I understand that won't be the case with each and every person, as some just don't "gamble" in the market, but my contention is that plenty do, and who would be in a better position to judge the potential of the OI and POET?
But if we don't see the increased volume/share price, what does it mean? Will it be that the message delivered by Suresh was received in a manner similar to the reception Mika got earlier in the week (from both the market and many on this board - LOL, one and the same as far as I can tell)?
Are those who take a look at POET going to say, "hmmm, very interesting, but they're still a year and several layers of risk away, I'll watch and wait." Or will they say, "you know, XYZ and ABC have been working on similar and are just about to bring their products out." Or will they say, "geez, this company really has something there, it has a chance to be very successful, and a real buyout target, I think I'll buy some stock now, before the rest of the market catches on."
At this point, I doubt any kind of NR with market moving substance will be forthcoming next week, and I hope people's expectations don't take another hit like last week. I'll admit, my expectations, not for news, but for a more exciting show by Mika, were not met, although I did not have an issue with the substance conveyed.
If we see some positive events in our share price/volume this week, I will be encouraged that our potential is being recognized now, even though we may be a year away from meaningful sales. In the meantime, some material NRE later this year would be most welcome.
I know some might respond/feel that the movement (or lack of movement) of the share price next week has nothing to do with the current speculative value of POET; I disagree with that thinking, putting it more into the category of denial. It doesn't mean we won't be ultimately successful, it just means that "ultimately" is further off than most of us would like.
