Speculation of course, but Cisco is hiring in Allentown for a CMOS based Silicon Photonics Engineer.
What You'll Do
Responsible for the design, simulation & characterization of Silicon Photonics Components utilizing Cisco's leading edge CMOS photonics technology
Who You'll Work With
Work as part of a team of photonic engineers dedicated to developing Silicon Photonics technology platform
Design & development of Optical PDKs for Cisco's next generation photonic platform
Design and validate photonic components, subsystems, and integrated optoelectronic circuits
Define test plans and test optical/electrical performance of photonic devices
Design & development of photonic devices for Telecom, Datacom & other applications
Design of experiments & statistical analysis of measurements
Lead laboratory characterization & verification efforts for validating designs
Ensure that designs meet product specifications & can be successfully transferred into volume manufacturing
Who You Are
MS minimum, PhD preferred in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Optics
Minimum of 2 years of university or industrial experience in silicon photonics with hands-on experience in design, simulation & lab characterization of photonics devices for optical communications
Prefer a good background in Optical PDK development including the design of some optical building blocks such as splitters, waveguides, MZIs, couplers & detectors
Hands-on experience optical simulation software such as FDTD, optical mode solvers, Matlab & some electrical IC EDA/design tools is required
Prefer candidates with a good understanding of semiconductor electrical properties, device physics including knowledge of optical phenomenon in CMOS based Silicon Photonics circuits
Knowledge of CMOS fabrication processes is a strong plus
Lab experience with optical measurements & optical test equipment required
You must be a team player with excellent verbal & written communications skills including the ability to work effectively across multiple sites with different time zones
Business travel across multiple Cisco and partner sites will be required
