Thanks, Shash, I've seen a schematic where the sliced silicon wafer has all these chips formed on it, and the number is certainly in the hundreds.

But the I/O itself seems like a much larger device - the device that looks like it has shotgun shells as part of it. Is that device something that has a bunch of I/O's in it, or is that device the chip itself and what I see just a huge magnification of it?
