The LightBar is of course in part is a grouping of remote lasers and is therefore interchangeable. As a result the Failure In Time standards are relaxed. It seems to be the only real viable solution for high power COBO switch ASIC right now. The point is if there was a long term problem with the laser beyond burn in then it gets swapped out with a different laser. And recall they have multiple power levels available so by evolution they could get swapped with ether higher power or low power as required for the switch. I think that ultimately the remote laser will be paired with a POET optical engine but this intermediate step allows industry to test drive.
