I'm honestly blown away by the content of that blog. Let there be no doubt now that this is the real deal and the penny is dropping. 10 years of hope and belief, turned to despair and ridicule from friends initiated into POET by my overexuberance. Well this is all coming to an end and i'll be having the last laugh!!! This exert from the blog says it all.
POET is really changing the way optoelectronics is being done. We are transforming the existing approach. So to see these optical engines being produced, 10,000 a month or 100,000, whatever it may be when we start, it’s not only a business success, I feel it is a success for the industry. It’s a milestone for the industry. We have been doing things in a particular way as an industry for a long time and now we are doing it differently, and it’s taking all of us to a higher level.
This approach that emerges with the optical interposer can proliferate into all photonics. It’s similar to traditional semiconductor packaging, which is a key. The missing piece of the puzzle in photonic integration has been with waveguides and how to use them to control the pathway of photons in a similar way that the flow of electrons is controlled in existing processes. We have achieved that control of photons and light with the optical interposer.
