You dont loose money on a reverse split.. in fact your ownership % stays exactly the same. 

the price would emeidialy reflect the split as I understand it.. so your value would stay the same until the stock starts trading again..  

so instead of 10shares equaling 10$  1 share would = 10$   on a 10 to 1 split.  if the share price is 1$ at the time of the split. 

Also..  go do the math..  your percentage of the company based on your share count is what you should really care about..   

if they add more shares after the split, yea your ownership value would be reduced. 

So..  if there are 10x less shares and we go to a billion market cap.  you still get the same abount of money if they didnt split and we go to a billion market cap.
