There is another line that caught my attention:

I read: Hey look, our superior transciever functionality is so small and produces not much heat. Why not put it into the switches itself and plug with a cheap and dumb optical cable?
If you are a company that builds servers and switches but no transcievers, that might increase your creation of value nicely. Just add a little POET-hardware and build in other ports. Not that difficult for Dell or the like, methinks.
