So, intel is fabricating optical devices at the wafer level.  Indium phosphide burn-in.   100g  and shipping 1 million a year. moving to 2 million a year.

Looks like they have innovated in the same fashion that POET has. they are way ahead of us.   

Doesn't need cooling. Low energy use. they are multi plexing. Coherent receivers. 

Intel is doing Monolithic integration. 

So they are still doing sub-assembly. 

Fixed Wavelength.  Direct detect. Not tunable.
