China is behind the curve of knowledge, and experience, but acquisitions will speed them along as they get the patents, and the recipes of key targets.

China demands technology independence at any price.

China wants to advance the technology that they acquire, for China, and not just copy what others have done.  They are greatly expanding their R & D budgets as they push hard for technology breakthroughs.

POET represents an emerging technology that the industry has been waiting for, but even now, does not fully grasp the versatility that their platform is capable of.  If China sees the big picture first, then POET is heading east.
