That's a very good analysis ITTR.

Most scenarios given here are visions of a quick and lucrative escape from POETs tortuous grip.  Like you, I just don't see Suresh Venkatesan's mission corresponds in any way with the scenario of a quick get away. He is in this for the long haul and has taken significant personal risk to pursue the goal of integration he believes in.  He would love 'that POET becomes the industry standard', he knows the pitfalls that could beset him in this aim which he has mitigated, as to me he appears to have structured the business in away that all who wish to do so can benefit from POET technology without the need for owning the company.

Whilst I agree that the thought of takeover must have passed Sanan IC management's appreciation of the situation, the path they have chosen brings many benefits for their business and China without takeover, particularly as they, China, seek a new leap forward in computer technology.  The relationship SANAN has formed with POET maintains the links to Western Technology, whilst POET has not burned any bridges and remains firmly connected through Allentown and the Valley to the West.  Sanan would endanger that advantage in a takeover.  Bear in mind that China has a far greater capacity to maintain the long view than the West, IMO, and has no need to rush into any thing, what it has signed up to is what it wants.

The long view remains that on the basis of the advantages clearly demonstrated by POET at the OFC, POET Technology realistically offers performance and cost advantages that can make it the standard that SV wishes, and do you know what? the industry now has a far greater realisation of POET potential after OFC than ever before and I suspect a lot thought and analysis is taking place at this very moment about ways forward in many companies.

My wish is to see this play out as it stands as it is quite clear that what POET offers now exceeds the time frame that the big players envisaged for OIC development.  That a small start up can do this is not unknown, as there are distinct advantages in being small and flexible.  SV's choices and aims are worthy of our continued support and patience.

Rewards will come on current plan's without writing imaginary scenarios to fulfill one's financial fantasies, although I  must admit to have been upping the size of the next sula to a Dragonfly 40 in my dreams.
