I reread the page again 2 times. To me it seems they are not talking about Poet´s platform.
This piece is about existent products, not future developments. Cisco doesn´t go too deep so it could mean a lot or nothing. But this strikes me:
- They are talking about chipsets, not a single chip.
- They are talking about industry-standard form factors, Poet has something smaller to offer.
I think this is not about Poet. Not yet? Who knows...

Not trying to shoehorn this into any particular optimism that it's Cisco (at this point)... but Cisco is one of the original heavyweights of the networking stocks that hails from the Vaporware era...
If THEY are just as scared of others who are nimbler in adopting new tech getting a leg up on them, would it not be as much in Cisco's best interests to be mum about their suppliers as it is in POET's customers' interests in not having POET reveal who they are working with?
These NDA's could perhaps go both ways, and Cisco's product language can be strictly imprecise for a reason ...
