Do you know what it takes for a buyout in this industry?

POET has to become a supplier already, and is already working closely with the would-be suitor for quite a while. No one is going to buy a brand new piece of technology with products not shipped at volume.

The buyout, if it were to happen, would be 2023 at least, when POET is already supplying in volume and proved itself. At that point, the valuation would be pretty high already, so a buy-out or not, POET's value should probably give you a decent return (not financial advice).

Look at all the recent buyouts within this space or just in hardware in general. The pattern: big fish eats up small fish. The small fish has been a supplier for years or already selling in volume in another vertical complementary to the big fish.
