As has been discussed in the past Rockley pivoted from data to sensing. The reason given was that there really was no differentiation in what they could provide to industry in data so they instead focused on sensing. But the bottom line seems to be that even though they have received huge funding and the attention of Apple, the end result is that the best traditional silicon photonics just can’t do what needs to be done. It is like putting lipstick on a pig.
And what about LightwaveLogic? Maybe that technology can succeed but lots of unanswered questions about long term viability and continues to be under development.
POET has the answer that continues to grow. The ability of that platform to integrate photonics with advanced silicon nodes is kind of a match made in heaven.
People can get twisted out of shape over how long it is taking but that is a pretty short sighted view in my opinion considering the amount of time and money that others have taken to push traditional silicon photonics to the limit.
POET = a work of art. The optical engines are “tiny and mighty”.
Superior in cost, footprint, performance, flexibility...

Seeing is believing.
