Message: Imec Xpand - Celestial Ai - POET

I'm aware this isn't new, but it's definitely nice to read.

Remember what Suresh said about the supply: “The challenges in this application are precisely those that the POET Optical Interposer was designed to overcome. They are the same as those faced by datacom and telecom companies as they seek to co-package electronics and optics and to achieve data transmission speeds of 3.2 and 6.4 Tbs across a number of channels with multiple wavelengths, with lower energy consumption and higher stability. The multi-laser integrated external light source developed for this application has direct applicability to other products in data communications and sensing.”

Also remember Celestial Ai 3 yr revenue projection for POET is 100M. That's a lot.

Full article:

"Imec XPand, the Leuven investment fund with close ties to the research center Imec, is participating in a $56 million capital round for the 'AI accelerator' Celestial AI.

The American tech company is working on a new generation of chips for artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The innovation lies in the use of light to send data in and between chips. With this technique, data can be sent much faster than via the electrical circuits of the current chips. In addition, light particles or photons are less sensitive to temperature fluctuations or electromagnetic fields than electrons.

Celestial AI and a few other companies are working on chips that use the benefits of light to transmit data faster, while also taking advantage of the benefits of today's silicon-based chip industry. This should result in ultra-fast and powerful chips that can be mass-produced relatively cheaply.

The company raises $56 million in a first large capital round (Series A) from some big names in the tech world. The round will be led by Koch Disruptive Technologies (KDT), a "disruptive" technology investor that is part of industrial giant Koch Industries. Imec-affiliated fund Imec XPand is a co-investor, together with the Singaporean state holding company Temasek, the investment fund The Engine of the American tech institute MIT, Tyche Partners, M-Ventures (the investment fund of the pharmaceutical company Merck) and Fitz Gate (the investment fund of the pharmaceutical company Merck). Princeton University).

Celestial AI will use the money to recruit additional engineers, fund product development and sign strategic contracts with suppliers such as US chip maker Broadcom."
