I was in conversation with a friend of mine who has worked for many high-tech companies and now has been employed by Broadcom for the last 10 years.

  He made a very fascinating comment to me about the current CEO. He said that his view is:

     Let all the research and developers battle out new technology and when the clear winner makes himself stand out and their technology is widely accepted, that is when Broadcom would step in and buy a company out.
