The claimed advantages are in speed of changing the laser's frequency. This is important in lidar where "chirp" signals -- short burst where the frequency of the signal is varied across the burst -- are used for object detection. In telecom, fixed frequencies are used so the ability to quickly change them is not an issue. So for now no relevance. If it becomes a lidar solution, and we have seen how long it takes a laser to make its way to being used/trusted by industry, it could be on our "need to integrate this modulator" list.
