Broadcom’s new Tomahawk switches

In last week's Synopsys Photonics Symposium presentation Suresh talked about the potential to remove the need for a DSP which consumes 6-8w of power. This would move the optics closer to the switch. Broadcom’s new Tomahawk switches provide enough signal strength to make this happen. And co-incidentally it is Broadcom who is supplying the DML’s.
