The real question in my mind is how was POET able to secure this deal? It is a very significant commitment for a market-leading designer and manufacturer of lasers to make with a new company that is just entering the supply chain.
So in the question above it would not be difficult to surmise that the supplier is being directed by POET's customer(s) to advance the platform for that customer's needs/demand.
But that is just part of the answer. The real answer lies in the capability of the optical interposer design to both reduce the energy required to drive these lasers and to manage the heat generated by the laser. And do this in a tiny footprint in a process that reduces costs to a level that the hyperscalers need.
