MRIscan4u (and all),
I have searched for the term “production” in the last presentations and always find it in phrases likes “release to production”. It would be good if POET would explain what exactly this means and what the next steps after that are.
To my knowledge, the company presentation of August 19, 2022, is the first to speak of 100G, 200G and 400G FR4 RX being “now sampling and selling to module customers” (through Super Photonics).
However, it is unclear from this wording what exactly is actually being sold to customers. Is it exclusively product samples? Is it product samples as well as products from series production? The former is supported by the fact that until recently POET was still talking about releasing four products for production by the end of the year. This would not have had to be formulated in this way if production had been running already for some time.
It would be helpful if such questions didn’t arise in the first place, if POET communicated clearly from the outset what is happening and what is going to happen.
Still, I wouldn’t worry much about it. Four of POET’s customers are planning to go into production with their own products in the first half of 2023, and they will need the optical engines in time before that. However, it must be noted that the company presentation of August 2022 only lists them as “committed customers”, not yet as “contracted customers”.
An update from the company on the state of progress at the start of the new year would be very welcome.
It would also be very welcome if POET were to be clearer and sufficiently take into account the typical level of knowledge of the typical investor. We investors do not know what exactly happens when. This should be explained to us.
If this does not happen, or only insufficiently, this leads to uncertainty. Uncertainty leads to a falling share price, and this is in nobody’s interest – not even in the interest of those who are watching POET Technologies and want to get in at a good price. They will first wait for convincing news and buy signals that will sustainably boost the share price.
