Hi Leb,
Actually didn't spent much time on the Arista connection however it's highly possible in my opinion.
-Theresa Lan Ende is a board member of POET and this gives us an important connection with Arista.
- Arista is also on the illustrative pipeline.
- Andy Bochelstein, CEO and founder of Arista talked about co-packaged optics vs. pluggables.
He says: "Our firm conclusion is that co-packaged optics is not necessary for 224 Gb/sec signaling. So at this point, there is nothing driving co-packaged optics except this perception that it was going to be lower power. But you can get to lower power much more easily just by changing the modulation technology." (Source)
So let's imagine Suresh talking to Andy. Hey Andy, we have a solution that is untouchable in terms of cost, power consumption and scalability. With us, you know, we can make you 500k units 800G or 1.6T engines by the end of 2023 or whenever you want them. We will ask some more, but you can keep the racks and these energy bills will go back to normal too.
I mean, POET has the solution to keep pluggables in the game for another 5 years or so.
Eventually they will come to POET and buy POET's solution. They will all come.
