While I can understand some of the frustration with Notyournamenotyourshares repetitive nature of encouraging DRS (though I do not condone the removal of those posts) this is exactly where the value of Direct registration comes into play. Your shares are NOT yours unless they are registered in your name through Poets transfer agent. Until that day you have nothing but an IOU which can be lent out repeatedly to malicious short-sellers without your consent - no matter what your broker tells you!! This is also an all too common practice with warrant holders who want to play both sides of the deal. (not saying anyone here is partaking) But they short-sell the stock, make a buck or buy low, and if you get burned by a bull-run, cover your a** with cheap warrants. By directly registering your shares, you REMOVE your shares from circulation until YOU choose to sell, making it impossible for shorting and warrant trickery to take place. "Diamond hands" mean nothing if you're just clutching onto and IOU your broker is willing to lend from under you. With the number of heavyweights that exist just on this forum, the POET float would be held so tightly manipulation would be almost impossible. The honest price-discovery we would witness would be astounding.
Food for thought!
