If you read his bio on Poet's website it says he's a partner in Arch Ventures, it's a company that hands out cash to startups, with $2 Billion Dollars currently in play... 

Let's do a recap, so it turns out that JLM collects a nice salary from Poet, he doesn't attend all the meetings, he gets free options every year with little to no conversion on his part, he doesn't support Poet's share price on the open market with share purchases, and he has access to billions of dollars of Venture Capital that he hasn't used to help Poet with private placements, the most recent being undersubscribed... And now we're being asked to Sweeten the Pot!
