From our perspective, having dug deep for a decade+ into this company, this article may seem to woefully miss the potential value and scope of Poet. However I'm hard pressed to blame the author - his impression likely reflects the broader investment community perspective who clearly hasn't received effective or impactful information. Let's face it, how many out there have access to feedback from those knowledgable in photonics engineering to decrypt what Poet is really all about.
I'm guessing the readership of Motley Fool is immense compared to Poet's IR outreach. If I heard about Poet for the first time reading this article, I wouldn't even consider putting a single dollar towards a phone camera component start-up that is "certainly losing money. In fact, it has very large, nagative margins.....losing millions". That would be my cue to stop reading, blacklist the name, buy more Enbridge and sleep like a baby.
This article portrays us very inaccurately IMO, but the author probably put more energy into researching Poet for this article than general investors who happen across Poet while scanning the landscape for opportunities. Ergo, a continued lack of understanding/awareness will continue to hurt our market cap as investors are increasingly playing defense. It is in Poet's hands to address this head-on with seriousness. Don't have contempt for those who don't understand, help them understand or else risk misinformation taking over. Aloofness as a strategy is not working. Poet is a truly magnificent investment opportunity that is being stifled by its creators.
Management has everything they need to turn this around in an instant, the time to do so is now.
