Does anyone know if there are any personal connections between POET and Celestica https://www.celestica.com/ ? Celestica also has its headquarters in Canada and has experience in data centre products ... not sure they would have the deep pockets for a JV though.
I was also surprised at Lisa's report citing hesitation of legacy module makers to incorporate Poet with the reason being that it leaves little value add / margin left for the module maker. I would think module makers only care about profit - if they can add Poet and get a significant cost reduction that they can either add to their overall margin or reduce their price so their volumes increase then there should be no hesitation as long as their costs to incorporate Poet into a new design was not too high. It certainly doesn't make sense if the module makers are designing new boards at higher speeds, say 400g, why would they not want to include POET right at the beginning? I would also expect them to be worried about competition - if a competitor introduces a module that includes POET with a reduced price and better specs that could significantly affect their profits.
