If someone drills a hole in your canoe and then panic stuffs a sock in it after you're half underwater, is it really appropriate to commend the "fix"?  I'll save my applause for when the boat is hydroplaning at full speed.

Few of us seem impressed by the financial stewadship of our company, and  I don't see that dynamic changing any time soon.  Thus, our redemption rests solely on quantifiable announcements that will supercede our financial management and actually translate into shareholder value.
