Message: RIP, China Plus 1 Strategy

Some interesting linked articles in view of this discussion about the possible future vs the possible demise of POET's China +1 "policy":

China, once an unstoppable economic powerhouse, has hit a wall (msn.com)

An old article, but still concerning:  What's gone wrong with China's economy | CNN Business

More up to date and possibly more concerning is the turn of the table whereby China now has a deficit in regards to Foreign Investment:

China Suffers First Foreign Investment Deficit As Economic Woes Deepen (businessinsider.com)

"China logged an unprecedented foreign direct investment deficit last quarter in the latest sign that Beijing is facing an almighty battle to revive the world's second-largest economy after years of harsh zero-COVID lockdowns.

Balance-of-payments data published by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange Friday showed that direct investment liabilities, which tracks the flow of money into non-Chinese companies, fell $11.8 billion over the three months to September 30.

Officials have released foreign direct investment figures each quarter for the past 25 years – and it's the first time the gauge has turned negative, Reuters reported."

This BBC report from 30 August 2023 has one subtitle stating:  "A Flawed Economic Model" that sheds quite a bit of light on the present economic situation in China:

Outofthisworld1 commented:  "Leb,

If this is true that the China plus 1 strategy is dead and we are stuck with only working in China I do not know what this does for our future.

Also, is this not material news and possibly that is what will be shown in the MD&A of the financials. I honestly think this is not a good plan and they should be looking to partner with someone big to get these modules made. We should not be looking to go down this path without a major partner and it should be outside China."

JMO, but I couldn't agree with you more, Outofthisworld1, then again is there really any strategic move now that will alter the course of the present untoward kinetic slide of events?  Is it even within the realm of possibility for POET to engage a "major partner and it should be outside China"?  How would POET make itself appear to a potential "major partner" as the element Au instead of the compound FeS2?

How???

I truly hope there is some major positive force afloat hidden far beneath the surface here that will rise to the occasion and provide a genuine life raft for the passengers in the Good Ship SS POET Technologies.  Hope isn't raising the share price right now.

This is so disheartening.........unless you shorted POET.

A quote from Television's past spoken by William Bendix in his character role of Chester A. Riley seems to be so very appropriate considering recent events with POET Technologies:

"What a Revoltin' Development THIS Is!!!"
