I believe that future light sources for hyperscale data centers will evolve from the rack to banks of lasers completely isolated in their own environment. A similar approach to the DC systems (isolated and redundant battery banks) that power auxiliaries in a power plant. Controlled environments that provide the desired wavelength. A and B redundant laser banks that can be located in remote locations within the data center which can be operated at optimum ambient conditions without distance limitations associated with the fiber plant. I think it is inevitable.
