What I think happened (speculation). I think they expected to announce a China +1 JV and maybe the partner held out for better terms and POET decided they were giving away too much and decided to do a public financing instead to preserve their negotiating power. If that was the plan then obviously it totally backfired.

By that time there was blood in the water and down it went as the sharks circled.
