This progression makes it much more likely that the large users will order the 800G modules. Having a path is a big inhibitor for a large corporation. Suresh calls it a "technology pathway." No tech buyer wants to drive the company into a cul-de-sac from which the escape is an expensive proposition.
Also, having a bunch of suppliers using POET tech gives the large users some comfort: They aren't stuck with one vertical supplier. Suresh has talked about the cost curve and will allay the concerns of the buyers while extracting nice margins along the way.
A small company with a game-changing tech needs to play ball the way the "bigs" want to play ball, with an eye on now and an eye on the long game.
These are exciting times for shareholders.
