I have been quiet because everything is clear and it is time to relax and watch everything unfold.

From the B&C archives relating to Raju's comment on the form factor for 3.2T:

1.6T/3.2T/200G lanes

Comments about the last news item regarding 1.6T/3.2T/200G lanes:

16 x 100 was in plan not long ago. Now obsolete. No problem.

8 x 200 is in - reduce power and costs.

16 x 200 is the next increment. The small form factor of POET Optical Engines makes the solution scalable to 3.2T pluggable transceivers in current industry standard form factors.

The "smaller than everybody elses" form factor means more stuff can go into the industry-standard spaces specified for each product. An example of improvement in the OI platform is reducing signal loss which requires compensating stuff that is an overhead cost and consumes vital space in order to "tweak" the signal.

An improvement for the Starlight packaged-light-source was for the Fiber Attach Unit (FAU) which is where the light source connects to whatever it is attached to ie Celestial's accelerator and Photonic Fabric for now. Insertion loss was reduced enabling an increase of usable light.
