Perhaps as FJ implies, CAI is concerned that Poet's products will help others compete with CAI.  

David L certainly did utter the words "open the floodgates."  That was long ago and reports of a flood at that time were surely exaggerated.  Let's remember he was chairman of the board at that time, so the words earn a significant hyperbole rating. 

The phrase belongs in the pantheon of Poet phrases proclaimed over the years. Among some of the more memorable are Copetti's "I'm all about shareholder value" and "we'll be on NASDAQ in four months;" Suresh's " up and to the right;" and Mika's "we're a billion dollar company," and "we're going to the NAS from a position of strength." 

I'm not saying the speakers, other than PC, did not have a reasonable belief in those statements, but none of the statements proved out in the time frame intended.  But, hey, we did finally make it to the NASDAQ!
