So Suresh is pretty excited about 50 Mhz spacing of lasers on the interposer, to replace the externally modulated lasers (EMLs) that are the status quo.
John, can you tell us why this is good? My guess is that it shrinks the footprint of the required parts, eliminating EML coupling, and replacing with the interposer chip closer to where the electrical signal originates and possibly creating better connections.
Anyone with a clearer technical grasp of this please correct or enhance the above. And what is the significance of 50, is that half or what vs. the current spacing?
I'm guessing I'm not the only one here that needs to know why this is so great.
