It will be interesting to see what it is that POET will be demonstrating at CIOE. The reference of high-speed modules suitable for AI is interesting. So will they have the 800G chip set ready at 200G per lane which could mean that they will have a 1.6T (2 X 800G) transceiver module ready for demonstration ahead of market needs. Certainly the Multilane collaboration could yield some interesting results and we should be hearing news to update that status.
high-speed module suitable for AI super-computing
They demonstrated the following at OFC and from what I understand they will demo something new at CIOE:
At OFC: Poet Technologies Inc. has made its first entry into the optical module market for artificial intelligence and cloud data centre markets with an 800G pluggable transceiver. The Wavelight is an 800G 2xFR4 OSFP module that incorporates the company's Poet Optical Interposer technology and related optical engine products.
Wavelight has eight lanes of electrical input and output channels operating at 106.25 gigabytes per second per channel. It consists of two 400G silicon photonics transmitters and one integrated 800G receiver, operating on four ITU-defined CWDM wavelengths. The transceiver is designed for use in 800-gigabit Ethernet links for up to two kilometres of reach over single mode fibre. According to LightCounting, the market for 800G 2xFR4 transceivers in 2024 is $750-million and is forecasted to grow to $1.7-billion by 2027, with more than half of the demand driven by AI networks. The Poet transceiver architecture delivers a solution that is cost optimized and highly scalable.
So my thoughts are they will probably be demonstrating 200G/lane on the transmit side in an 800G chip which would means a 1.6T chip set in a puggable…Suresh said they were ahead of the market based on what he was being told by industry.

Mr. Raju Kankipati reports
POET AND MULTILANE COLLABORATE TO DEVELOP HIGH-SPEED PLUGGABLE TRANSCEIVERS FOR AI NETWORKS
Poet Technologies Inc. is collaborating with MultiLane Inc., a leading provider of high-speed input/output and data centre interconnect test solutions, to develop next-generation, performance-optimized pluggable 800G, 1.6T and higher speed transceivers using Poet's newly designed transmit and receive optical engines. Poet and MultiLane will focus on jointly developing pluggable transceivers that will reduce cost and improve power efficiency over existing solutions, and address the increasing need for more scalable hardware components for artificial intelligence and cloud data centre markets.
"Our intent with this collaboration is to design cost-optimized 800G modules that offer superior performance with both the DSP integrated version as well as linear pluggable optics (LPO) variants. We also want to kick-start our designs for 1.6T and 3.2T pluggable transceivers for the most advanced data centre and AI network operators," said Raju Kankipati, Poet's senior vice-president of product management. "We have to plan and develop ahead of market demand and be ready when customers are ready to test these higher speeds. The collaboration with MultiLane will significantly shorten the design cycle time for Poet's technology and will enable us to bring this value to our global customers much more quickly."
"We are excited to collaborate with Poet, offering our services in product development, testing automation, and contract manufacturing to accelerate the product development and launch," said Fadi Daou, founder and chief executive officer of MultiLane. "MultiLane specializes in high-throughput testing that enables shorter design cycles and a faster time to market; driving industry innovation and maintaining a healthy networking ecosystem."
Initial samples of pluggable transceiver modules from this collaboration are expected to be available in late 2024. According to LightCounting the market for 800G transceiver modules is approximately $750-million today but is forecasted to reach $1.7-billion by 2027.
From the POET blog
3. What role is MultiLane playing in regards to accelerating POET’s speed to market?
MultiLane is one of the world’s leading suppliers of test equipment and testing solutions for the semiconductor and optoelectronics industry and has the capability to design and implement firmware needed for optical modules. POET and MultiLane are working together to develop next-generation, performance-optimized pluggable 800G, 1.6T, and 3.2T transceivers using POET’s transmit and receive optical engines.
The plan is to sell transceivers both to MultiLane’s existing customer base and to POET’s expanding roster of customers. MultiLane currently ships 10,000 products per week to its clients and has the manufacturing capability to help POET fulfill the orders it expects to receive as its modules complete their testing phase.
