MEETING WITH THE MASTERS OF CHANGE. IN-DEPTH INTERVIEW WITH Anthony Yu, GlobalFoundries. https://lnkd.in/dwFJaP7v. If you are planning to attend our next Optica Online Meeting on PIC developments (August 27th 2024), then I highly recommend grabbing a coffee and watching this latest episode of Masters of Change in Photonics before you go into the Zoom room.
WHY RELEASE THESE LONG-FORM INTERVIEWS?
We get many questions from young photonics companies trying to scale up production to serve new markets and increase their turnover. And that’s where Optica can help. We have access to the leading CEOs and CTOs in over 600 photonics businesses, who have a wealth of experience, and many are willing to share their advice with others. So, we created a series to explore the business strategies being developed by industry leaders. We discuss the questions that young companies often find difficult to get objective answers.
In this edition, I’m joined at the questioner’s table by Michael Hochberg, a well-known silicon photonics entrepreneur. Because of its length, the interview is hosted on our YouTube channel here:
https://lnkd.in/dwFJaP7vWe recently sat down with Dr.
Anthony Yu of
GlobalFoundries. He delves into the critical role of photonics in the future of semiconductor manufacturing. As the demand for advanced computing power and data transmission grows, Yu highlights how photonics can address the limitations of traditional electronics by enabling faster data transfer, improving energy efficiency, and enhancing AI applications. He underscores the necessity for collaboration across the industry (large and small companies) to drive innovation and maintain technological leadership. This discussion provides valuable insights into how photonics is set to shape the next wave of semiconductor advancements. He has plenty of advice for scaleup companies who want to get ahead.
Michael started our interview by summing up the impact
Anthony Yu has had on the silicon photonics industry.
WHO IS ANTHONY YU?
He is currently vice president of Silicon Photonics Product Management at
GlobalFoundries. Prior to being named in this position, Dr. Yu was vice president of
GlobalFoundries Aerospace and Defense Business Unit. Before joining GF, he held multiple executive positions at
