timotao:"POET's slide decks show wearables and 5G, but we don't see who they are working with or if it is a current effort or just aspirational. Samsung might be a connection, as they are involved in the CAI effort and are also big in handsets and wearables."

The 5G roll out has been way smaller and slower than anticipated.

As to wearables, I'd love to have an update on that. POET had this to say back in 2021 (but, in a very POET like way, pretty much crickets since):

“One key market POET will focus on next is health technology, including wearable devices, mobile and medical devices for point-of-care. Light can be used to measure everything from your heart rate, to your blood pressure, your blood oxygen level, or the level of carbon monoxide or alcohol in your bloodstream. We believe that POET’s technology is key to unlocking new applications in healthcare. The market is huge compared to datacom, estimated at a 48-billion-dollar TAM by 2025. POET’s technology has several competitive advantages in such devices. Miniature size is key to enabling apps on smart-phones, smart-watches and other point-of-care devices. You have seen the size of the optical interposer [smaller than a dime—from a previous slide]. It will easily fit into a watch. No one else can produce a smaller integrated optical spectrometer, which is the device that is used to measure all those bodily functions, that’s contained in a watch.”
