You need to understand what a fully integrated 800G Tx & Rx turns into. It enables a 1.6T pluggable transceiver. And if they remove the DSP the power budget  is redistributed which opens up a world of possibilities. That is why Luxshare wants a POET enabled linear drive and what that will lead to. The whole reason why industry is interested in POET is the size and efficiency of these optical engines.

If you can reduce the power further by removing the power hungry DSP which is part of what POET is doing with Luxshare and you are doing this at 100G and 200G per lane it opens up a lot of room in the power budget making the package available for high data rates. This is why industry leaders are partnering with POET.
