Foxconn Interconnect Technology moves into high speed 200Gbps Ethernet transceiver market

Foxconn Interconnect Technology part of the Hon Hai Technology Group (“Foxconn”) (TWSE:2317) is one of the world's largest electronic contract manufacturers ($200 Billion plus per year). That said, part of Foxconn's latest strategy is to move into semiconductor contract manufacturing, specifically wafer fabrication foundry services, outsourced semiconductor, assembly and test (OSAT) and even ASIC and photonics design. This is in addition to Foxconn's existing leading contract manufacturing market share in the AI server market, the cell phone market, displays and soon to be electronic vehicle market.

Foxconn's development and supply agreement with POET Technologies fits neatly into Foxconn's ecosystem and semiconductor strategy. As part of the POET Technologies' agreement, it is expected that POET and Foxconn will work together to provide Foxconn's AI cloud and server customers, like NVidia, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and IBM with the transceiver modules (communicate) models they need to build out their next generation data center product offerings whether they be wired Ethernet, Radio Access Network based, optically interconnected, or more so, in space. Doubling down on that, POET Technologies optical interposer could very well be designed into next generation AI driven automated manufacturing facilities, that Foxconn is now building out.

POET's optical interposer is a unique photonic integrated circuit from a technology and market standpoint. The interposer it includes high speed electrical, radio frequency and optical (light) ports and the internal light processing functions needed to build compact, and low power AI compute and communicate nodes. POET's interposer can be also be tightly copackaged with the most advanced ASICs, RF receivers, laser arrays and photodiodes to form the backbone of next generation AI networks, clusters, racks, servers and boards. That is "the technology" that Foxconn's long list of AI data center, server and supercomputer customers are very much concerned about.
