The key message about Xscape and POET comes at the end of the article.

Right now, Xscape Photonics is not trying to make the network interfaces or switches that enable this disaggregated photonics fabric, but rather is trying to create the right low-powered, multi-color laser that others will want to buy to make these devices.

In short, plug the Xscape laser onto a POET optical interposer, and that’s it.
