Grade 10 - chose typing over shorthand. The IBM selectric was an leap forward. It had a ball with all the letters and characters. Hit a key and the ball rotated in an instant to type out the letter and always be ready to repeat as quickly as one could type. No more jamming keys. I reached 50 wpm.
In a pre-keyboard, pre-computer era, little did I know how valuable typing skills were going to be for my future career. Now it is a handy skill for binge-posting when there is so much action going on.
