Message: GlobalFoundries Stops All 7nm Development: Opts To Focus on Specialized Processes

I do remember that - several years ago, we could see several signes pointing to a future cooperation of POET with GF. For those interested in these connections, please go back in time reading old forum aricles.

But then we could not detect further developement in this direction, and we assumed that GF invested too much money and efforts into their 7nm technology. Their bet is(was) on 7nm Si, especially on SOI. But we also know that they knw a lot about POET (thanks to Ajit and SV).

Now we can learn that GF is changing their strategy. GF realized that they are racing with Spestrong(er) competitors, but racing into a dead end road. So where will they be heading next? "Specialized Processes"?

We know that Poet is at the moment focussed on their photonic interposer, and somehow stuck with their GaAs technology (shelved, but for sure not permanently). They openly proclaimed to be n needof a strong partner to overcome these issus with the 4th terminal. Our bet since last year was on ISRO and this open tender. But what if it is not India preventing further steps, but a third party in this project. Or even a party that plans to develope the monolytic GaAs technology on its own with POET, and without ISRO?
