Agreed. The attack on the environment might simpy be his way to keep the End-Timer kooks swarming his Cabinet happy. These are people who will be totally thrilled to collapse every functioning system (man-made and natural) on the planet, the better to get on with their eschatological fantasies.

As for trade, It isn't (and shouldn't be) a zero-sum game. His America First agenda assumes we do not need the rest of the world. If economies were not so globalized, that might be a fair assumption. But because Trump is so utterly ignorant of how intricately connected we all are economically (as well as of basically every Dewey Decimal category in the library), his trade "wins" over other economies immediately cut off markets for American businesses who export there.

He's stirred up a hornet's nest of hatred against us, and I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into a war against our currency. I remember not long ago the complaining about the price of oil being pegged to the US Dollar - I bet the powers that be in that quarter are plotting to break that link.
